Such a Time as This
I hope these books will make the Bible come alive for you. I wrote Such a Time because I was reading through the book of Esther and started imagining Esther as an introvert. What if she was shy, like me?
480 BC
When the Persian king announces a beauty contest to replace his
deposed queen, Esther is snatched from the market in Susa by the
king’s guards. Ensconced in the palace harem, Esther struggles to
survive palace intrigue, forging friendships but inflaming enmities as well.
Ultimately, the mercurial King Xerxes chooses her beauty, but her triumph is tinged by sorrow.
A new advisor named Haman resolves to eradicate Esther’s people. With the king’s indulgence, Haman issues an irreversible law for the genocide of the Jews. Can the Queen find the courage to plead for their lives? And if she does, can the nefarious law be neutralized?
